Why Does Native Point-to-Point Integration Matter for SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Payroll?

What’s the value of native integration between SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Payroll (ECP) and SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central (EC)? I was reminded recently as I was fortunate enough to revisit the re-implementation of a customer that started their SAP SuccessFactors journey in the years prior to ECP being on the SAP SuccessFactors roadmap. The customer has made the great choice of implementing ECP together with their already active EC system.

It made me think of the real benefits of having full native point-to-point (PTP) integration between payroll and core HR in place. Gone are the days of having to source a technical consultant that not only understood the technical workings of the core HR cloud product (EC in this instance) as well as that of the on-premise payroll product (non-SAP payroll in this customer’s case) but a specialist in an integration toolset like Dell Boomi.

Benefits of Employee Central Payroll Native Integration

Nowadays, with the ease of PTP integration, I can have an EC consultant spend a few hours with an ECP consultant (in a lot of cases, this can be the same person) to align on the customer’s requirements. From there, it is a matter of pointing the two systems to each other and maintaining a few simple mapping tables in the application itself.

Monitoring and troubleshooting replication between systems has also become just as easy. With the release of Replication Monitor 2.0 by SAP, you now have an easy-to-navigate platform where you can not only monitor for the successful replication, but you can even drill all the way down to the data that is causing issues if things don’t go right.

All in all, having a truly native PTP replication in place for payroll in core HR makes life so much simpler, not only during implementation but for the remainder of the life of your software when you need to think of maintenance.
